Understanding Temperature Differential in MRCOOL Mini-Split SystemsUpdated 5 months ago
MRCOOL mini-split systems are designed for efficient energy use by maintaining a temperature differential, ensuring the system operates smoothly without frequent on/off cycling.
How Temperature Differential Works
In a traditional HVAC system, the unit frequently cycles on and off to maintain the desired temperature, which can be less efficient and cause more wear and tear on the system. In contrast, MRCOOL minisplit systems use a temperature differential to maintain comfort while minimizing energy usage.
How Temperature Differential Works:
- Cooling Mode: The system cools to around -4°F of set temperature before turning off, then activates again at +1°F.
- Heating Mode: The system heats to approximately +4°F of set temperature and then shuts off, starting again when the temperature drops to -1°F.
Benefits:
- Energy Efficiency: Fewer on/off cycles mean lower energy consumption.
- System Longevity: Less frequent cycling reduces wear and tear.
- Improved Comfort: Slight adjustments in settings help maintain a more consistent temperature.
Controlling the Differential:
- Follow Me Function: Ensures the temperature is measured from the remote for more accurate readings.
- Comfy Mode: In the MRCOOL app, adjust the differential range for better control.
